Ask any Hongkong people their favourite sportsperson in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Invariably they will say "Kuojiangjiang" "Liu Xiang" or "Michael Phelps".

My vote, however, will go to Natalie du Toit. I shall cast my second one to the Polish table tennis player Natalia Partyka.

Nikolai Rimsky -Korskov (1844- 1908) : centennial of his death

Suprisingly there are not many commemorative concerts held here in Hong Kong to mark the death of this teacher of Prokofiev and Stravinsky.

His name is often associated with Sherherazde op 35( "one of the most popular orchestral works ever written") and Capriccio Espangol op 34. However, my playlist also includes :

Le Coq d'or (Golden Cockerel) Suite
Procession of the Nobles from Mlada
Russian Easter overture
Flight of the bumble bees from The Tale of Tsar Sultan
Song of India from Sadko
Glory to the ancient powerful one from Sadko

What is playing is The Bagdad Festival from his Sherherazade, noted for the exceptionally fine trumpet playing.

Hieronymus Bosch's the Garden of Earthly Delights 人間樂園 circa 1505-1510

人始终要死，所以近日較對Otherworldly 東西感興趣。

欣賞Hieronymus Bosch (1453-1516) 這奇幻偉大傑作是要花時間和耐性，绝不能以吃即食麪心態。

人間樂園》是一幅三折式(triptych)的作品，由屏風的內外側共同呈現了一個宗教主題，也就是從《神創造人》到《人類的墮落》的過程。從外側看，闔上兩翼時表現的是《創世紀》的第3天，上帝創造了陸地和海洋。Bosch 把地球畫成透明的球體，但是其中依稀可辨識的海洋、陸地卻是平面的。
留意左上角。此乃造物主手持書本。正頂為拉丁文:英文直譯為"For he spake and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast' (Psalms 33:9)" 原文出自聖經詩篇，He當然指真神，衪每發言事情就如意達成，發施號令事物就要遵從。

趁影片未上畫作小小回顧。最初接觸此片集大約2004年。一天晚上12時扭開Pearl看到這4位時代女性公然詳談男人和對性的看法和經驗。一直以來被視為禁忌的性話題成功能融入四個年過30的都市单身女子的生话故事中。對白witty輕鬆流暢，半小時一集，非常receptive。不過由於播影時間太夜，每週一次，容易错失。後來卒之買了全集:4張DVD，總算過足戲瘾。

請看我最喜歡的角色Samantha 正在與Miranda向路過的俊男行注目禮。

US$33.6 Million for a Piece of Art Junk

據《每日電訊報》5月14日報導，克里斯蒂 Christie's
拍賣行表示，盧西安‧弗洛伊德 Lucian Freud 的一幅真人大小的胖裸女油畫《睡著的福利官》Benefits Supervisor Sleeping 以33.6百萬美元價格成功拍賣，這個價格打破了現世畫家的作品拍賣價的最高紀錄。

再起步前看看興隆街隔鄰之同文街。(曾近榮成日叫人去化工原料铺買清潔劑的兩條街)

未到永安街(花布街)前記得當年電車路有間叫豐昌顺的專賣校服的鋪頭。的確這部份的電車路有很多與衣着有關的商店。

在永吉街口有老店梁蘇記傘子專門店。

對面是1940年代的先施

Eddie Lau 攝影師作品(部份)大賞

老實說本人攝影差勁，由以前SLR 、傻瓜機、到現在的DC影出來的相都見不得人。所以自己冇報名的跑步賽事都提不起傻勁到場做下记錄。但每當看到他人傑作會有共鳴。Eddie Lau 素未謀面。但最近偶然有幸接觸他大師級作品，以下謹挑選9幅大作作介紹。

首先構圖主體有兩部份：(1)巨形海報 (2)街上6名行人。兩者由海報汽車窗連合起來，就像個畫框。
海報人物是過着理想化/美化的愉快生活。現實裏6名路人甲乙丙丁....卻面孔模糊不清，但肯定木無表情。很可能生活節奏太刻板，(請留意他們都是步速一致)。而正中該名傻兵還被生活conditioned 到好像要subject to army discipline操起兵來。難怪我們都失笑。Eddie 就通過兩名广告模特兒作為面具，making a satirical comment on the mundane lives。(2 thumbs up 。this picture is almost on the same plane as Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times)
