As I am injury free this year my objective is to improve my previous record. However the anxiety has been such that I have become insomaniac a week before the race day. This culminated to a point that I could not sleep a wink on 7th. So this sleep deprivation was fatal to my performance on 8th.
(閱讀全文)This is very much a dreaded course. It will remain as the last option of bettering one's personal record. Bearing the almost hellish experience last year in mind I looked at those wearing 3-digit 2-digit and single digit number bibs with full admiration and respect. Apart from having high regard of their awe-inspiring decision to run this route twice, I envy all these participants, the women in particular.
I have chosen to stay away from this challenge this year. Am I a coward?
(閱讀全文)The official result is yet to be announced. Judging from past experience one needs to wait for ages before it comes. Again the first part of the race I performed better than that in 07. But overall it was 2 minutes slower.
It dealt another great blow to my chances of doing better in the coming marathons.
(閱讀全文)After the race I rechecked my blog entry and found my time for my first 10K this year was faster than 2007. However, I ended up 2 minutes slower at the finishing point. This showed my endurance threshhold was better last year. In fact the 15 K I did at Kwaifong sportsground in the evening was at a much slower time too. No doubt this was a sign of regression.
(閱讀全文)When compared with Nike 10K this was just a local district event and the number of participants were of course much less and most elite runners were absent. The route was from Tai Po Waterfront Park to Hong Kong Science Park, and back.
I managed to focus more on speed training plus a hill run the day before. So I fared better this time.

No trip to Russia will do without visiting the Kremlin. Along with the Red Square it was on the UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1990.
"Inextricably linked to all the most important historical and political events in Russia since the 13th century, the Kremlin (built between the 14th and 17th centuries by outstanding Russian and foreign architects) was the residence of the Great Prince and also a religious centre. At the foot of its ramparts, on Red Square, St Basil's Basilica is one of the most beautiful Russian Orthodox monuments."
I spent the whole morning there. It turned out the impression inside the fortress walls was far less remarkable than outside looking in.
